Printmakers Marie-Louise Martin and Pamela Leonard were honoured by the National Print Museum when they were invited to put together a showcase of three different traditions in printing. The various methods used in transferring ink to paper have a long and involved history; from times before Guttenberg's press, through that machine, to today's more modern presses. There have been some dead ends and there remain some little-explored paths through that history. In this exhibition we were able to see two contemporary Irish artists investigate three of these traditions in a modern context: etching, woodcutting and lithography. They also demonstrate how style and technique are often strongly allied. Marie-Louise's and Pamela's printing are markedly different and yet beautifully complementary. This exhibition will be moved to the United Arts Club on the close of this showing.
