Abandoned places - Italian series

These drawings have been made over successive trips to central Tuscany in all seasons, over many years.

The contrasts in light and shade, which are best achieved with graphic art, are references to the strong contrast that may be drawn between our wishes and life's realities. Ever-present in these drawings is a sense of hope: a hope that the subtler shadings are our dreams made real.
